GENERAL INFORMATION

OFFICE HOURS
I will be available for personal help on the days we have class by appointment only. Make contact with me prior to the appointment either in person or by email. Since I have commitments after class, my hours will be from 7:15 am to the beginning of class. Feel free to email me about your concerns. I'm usually away from my computer from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, so it's best to message me outside of those hours for a prompt response. You may email me 7 days a week. I may be out of town on occasions so, my response may be delayed in those cases.

PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ON A REGULAR BASIS for important messages. Make sure your inbox has adequate memory (not full). So, clear it from time to time.

EXAMS
I will give 3 exams & a final exam. (see class meeting calendar for dates). I will have a full period problem session prior to each exam for questions & hints. I plan to give 2 point extra credit quizzes at the end of each lesson based on assigned out-of-class exercises (see openning day sheet).

CALCULATORS>
A TI-83/84. The TI-83 is recommended. It will be used throughout the course. You will be allowed to use your calculators on all testing situations. I will give lots of help for those of you who are new to the TI-83/84. Make sure you bring it to class.

ACADEMIC HONESTY
I will assume that everyone will do and submit their own work. If I feel this is not the case, appropriate action will be taken. Please do not put me in this uncomfortable situation.

OUTCOMES
The primary purpose of this course is to give the student a solid understanding and a feel for the fundamental concepts of calculus and how we can apply these to business situations. Hopefully, at the conclusion of this course, you will be able to understand the popular terminology used and how calculus can be used for analysis.

ABSENCES
YOU ARE TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL MISSED WORK. Contact me if there is a severe problem. I will do what I can to help you. See my attendance policy in the openning day packet.

FINAL NOTE
I really want this course to be a pleasant experience for you and, with your help and cooperation, it will. In order to do reasonably well, you must give it an honest effort and try hard not to miss class. That's really all I ask of you.
